I see Phil's back in another thread spreading some recommendations. Thanks! I'll bring this thread back to life with stuff I've been tripping over (in every sense of the word, ha-ha!). :-D

Just picked up a nice double LP called "Good God! A Gospel Funk Hymnal". A real sweaty version of the old song "Wayfaring Stranger" is on there. Lovely, he-he. There's a clip here: http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=27698

While you're at it try and check out the album visible elsewhere on the same page called "Home Schooled : The ABCs Of Kid Soul". :-)

Ciao!

Lars

By the way, I just noticed that the dj set mentioned on the post before the last one is still online, in cause you're curious.

Been a while since I have - or anyone has - been writing here. Not much activity on my 'mog' as well, but at least there was a best of 2007 list (and more)

http://mog.com/Capt_Daydream

Various/Focus Jazz - More Modern Jazz From The Wewerka Archive 1966-1969 (12")
Marzipan Marzipan - Marzipan Marzipan
Various Artists - SOPA DELICIOSA
The last two titles are from my own label, so obviously I'm biased, but I do count them among my favourite releases of 2007.

THE YEAR 'S DISAPPOINTMENTS
Björk: Volta
Radiohead: In Rainbows

---

I've listened a lot to the Radiohead album, though. Trying to get it, and I do enjoy it, but it's still disappointing.

By the way, PJ Harvey has a new single out just now. From the "White Chalk" album... and with a b-side. Got three out from that one now.

I've discovered a radio show that PJ Harvey made on the KCRW channel in september 2007.
How can I describe all the magic that she brings in her songs? She stands alone with her piano, guitar or autoharp and have such a presence that she doesn't need anything more!!!

You can listen or watch this show here:
http://www.kcrw.com/music/programs/mb/mb071102pj_harvey

For the ones who want more I've got a few wav songs of the show..;

How did you do the wav-files? Of the webstream or were they recorded of the radio analogue "overthere"?

Mmh, this topic reminds me that I should invest a bit more time in
discovering new music. Used to be be going to concerts on a weekly
basis but then my love for the theatre began to grow and now I spend most
of my money on theatre tickets. But luckily a lot of theatre makers have a
superb taste in music. I went to see a dance piece by Erna Omarsdottir
recently, called 'The Mysteries of Love,' with music by Johann Johannsson.
I know, he's no 'new' name but I love the music he composed for
Omarsdottir's previous piece IBM 1401 - A User's Manual, which is also released on cd. (I know contemporary dance is not everyone's cup of tea, so I won't
be offended if you say you hate the first YouTube fragment  )

I would like to invit you all to discover OUR BROKEN GARDEN.

We once talked about Ana and his band but she just signed with the Efterklang Label (Rumraket) and with the british one "bell union".

Her first EP "lost sailor" will be in stores in Denmark late april and the album will be released late summer (on Rumraket for Denmark and Bella Union outside).

Ana gave me a precious gift with her 10 tracks demo and I can tell you that this album will be amazing! You can listen to a few songs on her myspace (don't know yet if all the songs will be on the album)

Blogging a bit on www.larsdideriksen.com again. Did we mention this site here before? :-)

Quote:
Anyone "in the know" on this matter would surely call it old news, but me, I just stumbled on the website Daytrotter. Lots of great live sessions there with artists such as Nina Nastasia, Dirty Projectors, Low, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy and Jana Hunter. Yeah, those were the ones I wanted to mention, but there are lots more for various tastes. Go to www.daytrotter.com for all that.

Maybe an idea to revive this thread?

Just now listening to "Wintermusik" (last chance, spring finally seems to be coming) by Nils Frahm. If anyone is missing piano in Under Byen, he-he, or just like simple, but beautiful piano tunes should check this one out. And maybe his other album too (haven't bought that one yet).

You can listen to some of it here:

The best of the year and of the decade in Danish, but with links. ;-)
